How does science communication impact our lives? As it turns out, we feel this everywhere—not just inside science, or in how science gets communicated to policymakers and the public, but also in the absence of effective science communication in all corners of society. What we end up calling misinformation and disinformation—in debates ranging from vaccines to climate change—has a lot to do with how effectively science is able to communicate and defend truth. Science can’t control what people ultiately believe, but it can do a better job of educating and informing.
